The City of Osaka's STS "Akogare" has offered sail training programs to the general public since 1994. She has sailed more than 119,000 n.m. equivalent to the circumnavigation of the globe about six times, having called at Shanghai, Guam, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and the World Sail 2000, as well as the ports around Japan.
What is sail training?
How can I join?
What does the "Akogare" look like?
You will find the answers here!

Year 2000 will mark the first eastward bound circumnavigation via Europe for a Japanese tall ship. STS "Akogare" left Osaka on April 9, 2000 for the "World Sail 2000" and returned home on December 25 taking 261 days.

"The Ship's Log" on this site provides information and images of the life on board of "Akogare".

Schedule from April to June 2006 and the Ocean Programs (more than 5 days) through the fiscal 2006 until March 2007. Check it out at Sailing Schedule.
