Sailing schedule from December 2005 - March 206announced

The sailing schedule for Osaka's sail training ship "Akogare" from December 2005 to March 2006 has been announced and the latest issue of PR brochure "Topgallant Vol.31" completed.

In the former half of this fiscal year, "Akogare" has been sailing the waters from Hokkaido in the north to Okinawa in the south, participating nautical events and taking trainees for the programs varying one day to around a week.

Based in Osaka in the latter half of this year, she will conduct the programs from one day to two weeks in which she would reach as far as Ogasawara Islands. Good news is that the Christmas voyage which has been suspended for two years will be held again on December 23 - 24.

On the Christmas Day, the ship will be opened to the public between 13:00 - 18:00 and illuminated from sunset to 22:00.

The brochure, only in Japanese language though, covers the lively talk by the trainees upon completion of a voyage from Osaka to Yokohama in August, message from Mr. Susumu Abe, an enthusiastic educator of Japan, who paises the City of Osaka's activities through Akogare, and the introduction of Nao Victoria, a replica of the Spanish sailing ship that made the world's first circumnavigation of the globe in the 16th century.

Copies of the brochure are available at the Osaka's subway stations, ward offices, libraries and other facilities of the City government after September 23.
