News Flash ! June 21, 2000
The ship berthed at Balboa, Panama
Leaving San Francisco on June 1 (local time),
STS Akogare has been sailing at fairly good
speed and just arrived at the berth in Balboa,
Panama at 1700 hours June 20 local time,
one day prior the date initially scheduled.
All is well on board. In Balboa, Capt. Hitoshi
Kita, Master, will visit the City Hall of
Panama to hand the letter of the Mayor of
Osaka and also pay a courtesy call to the
Panama Canal Authority. At this stage, the
ship will pass the Canal on June 23 local
time and sail into the Atlantic at last.
Next port of call is Boston, USA with ETA
July 9 and she will join the fleet of Tall
Ships 2000.
