Sailing schedule from April -
July 2005 announced
Day Sails are planned at Niigata inviting
the children at quake area
The sailing schedule of Introductory programs
for the City of Osaka's sail training ship
“Akogare” from April until July 2005 and
Ocean Programs (longer voyages) throughout
the fiscal year have been announced and the
trainees are being recruited.
Schedule from April - July 2005
The schedule includes seven Introductory
programs: 4 one-day courses and 3 overnight
courses, and 4 Ocean program courses.
The Introductory programs accept those of
10 years old or more and the Ocean programs
accept those of 16 years old or more.
In April, there are two corporate
freshmen
training courses are to be held
for NYK Shipping
Line and Nitta Corporation. Thouse
training
programs have been continued
for several
years as the companies are quite
happy with
the result of sail triaining
that would surely
build teamwork and camaraderie
among the
freshmen.
Later in April, the ship will
call Nagasaki
to participate 2005 Nagasaki
Tall Ship Festa
and open the ship to the public.
An Ocean
Program will follow the stay
starting with
the departure Parade of Sails
of the Festa
on May 1 and arrive in Hakata
on May5.
In June, Akogare will visit Tomakomai (Hokkaido),
Noshiro and Akita (Akita) and Sakata (Yamgata)
for the first time during the programs supported
by the Nippon Foundation to provide the local
children of the chance of getting aboard
a tall ship and learn about the local ports
and areas from the sea.
On July 6th and 7th, Akogare will visit Niigata
severely damaged by the earthquake last October
and conduct 2 day sails inviting the local
children to cheer them up.
The PR leaflet “Topgallant Vol. 29” (Japanese
only) is now available at the subway stations
in Osaka and other City Government facilities
from early March.
