April 8 "Akogare" left for Shanghai, China in a maiden voyage taking 32 trainees on the way and 23 on the way back

March 28 Commissioned as the start boat for the 3rd Melbourne/Osaka Double-Handed Yacht Race in Melbourne

August Participated in Sail Indonesia '95 in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Independence of Indonesia Number of trainees reached 2,000

March-May Took part in SAIL OSAKA '97 Hong Kong/Osaka Tall Ships Race and was the host ship in the Parade of Sail in Osaka

July-August Voyage to Seto Inland Sea supported by Nippon Foundation

June-August Voyage to Shikoku, Kyushu and Seto Inland Sea supported by Nippon Foundation
2000 End of March Completed 49 introductory courses and 4 ocean courses, taking 1,934 trainees and covered 7,864 n.m.
April 9 Started STS Akogare World Sail 2000, an east-bound circumnavigation of the globe. WS01 course started with 22 trainees from 16 - 67 years old.
May 6 Arrived in Honolulu, USA as the first port of call
May 24 Arrived in San Francisco, USA and left on June 1
June 21 Arrived in Balboa, Panama
July 6 Arrived in Boston, USA and participated in Sail Boston 2000. Left on July 16 taking 22 trainees from 15 - 32 years old for WS02 course.
July 20 Arrived in Halifax, Canada and joined Tall Ships 2000 Halifax. Left on July 24 taking 23 trainees from 15 - 26 years old for WS03 course.
August 18 Arrived in Ijmuiden, Netherlands
August 24 Arrived in Amstderdam, Netherlands and joined Sail 2000 Amsterdam. Left on August 28.
August 30 Arrived in Le Havre, France for 20th anniversary of sister port relationship to Osaka, and left on September 8
September 13 Arrived in Lisbon, Portugal and left on September 19
September 20 Passed the Strait of Gibraltar
September 23 Arrived in Barcelona, Spain and left on October 1
October 7 Arrived in Piraeus, Greece and left on October 15. Public event held to promote the profile of Osaka.
Ocrober 19 Passed the Suez Canal taking 13 hours
November 1 Arrived in Muscat, Oman and left on November 7
November 27 Arrived in Singapore and left on December 3. Public event held to promote the profile of Osaka
December 25 Arrived home five days later than original schedule during warnings of strong wind and waves, but was received by some 500 citizens and volunteers
2001 February & March "Experience Programs" designed for schools conducted supported by the Nippon Foundation. Completed 17 introductory courses and 4 ocean courses, taking 851 trainees covered 29,845 n.m.
April Joined the international tall ships festival in Nagasaki from April 19 until 22. Conducted freshmen training course for NYK Line
May Joined the opening event of "Sunport Takamatsu" on May 12 and 13, and Tokyo tall ships' parade commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Port of Tokyo on May 20
July - August Joined the 16th Marine Festival in Aomori Prefecture on July 20, 21, 28 and 29. Conducted "Northern Japan courses" supported by the Nippon Foundation
October Joined the 385th anniversary of the Port of Miyako, Iwate Prefecture from October 11 until 14
November Joined "Kagoshima Tall Ships Festa" from November 23 - 25
December Conducted Akogare's first Christmas voyage
2002 March Completed 44 introductory courses and 3 ocean courses, taking 1,777 trainees and covered 7,099 n.m.
April Corporate freshmen training course for Nitta Inc. and Akogare's first Family Course conducted
May May "First joiint sail drill with "Kaiwo Maru" on May 9. First course for primary school and junior high school students
June Freshmen training course for NYK Line. Joined "Yokohama International Tall Ship Festival" during June 26 - 30
July Joined the 17th Marine Festival iin Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture on July 22, 23 and 24. Conducted "Sea of Japan Westbound courses" supported by the Nippon Foundation
August Conducted STS "Akogare" Osaka/Busan Youth Exchange in commemoration of the Year of Japan-Korea National Exchange in 2002. First Group by 25 trainees covered 502 n.m. during August 8 - 15 and Second Group by 11 trainees covered 568 n.m. during August 21 - 28
Public boarding for The Boy Scout Federation 23rd Asia-Pacific and 13th Japan Jamboree
November Participated in "Kinko-wan Tall Ship Festa" (Kagoshima Prefecture, Nov. 22, 23)
December Held two Christmas courses
2003 March Public boarding for the 3rd Water Forum World Assembly
Completed 47 introductory courses including 19 school programs and 7 ocean courses, taking 1,499 trainees and covered 7,507 n.m. (13,903km). Also 6 public boarding held in Osaka
April Corporate freshmen training course for Nitta Inc. and NYK conducted.
One day course in association with the 5th Melbourne/Osaka Double-Handed Yacht Race held
May Participated in the parade of sails and public boarding for "Tall Ship Festa Yokosuka" and also conducted school programs for local schools
July "Miyazaki Tall Ship Festa" (Miyazaki Prefecture, Jul. 20 and 21)
Public boarding and Half-day courses in conjunction with Osaka Port Festival on July 30 and 31. Number of trainees reached 15,000.
August Ocean Program course of 10 days to Yakushima Island, Kagoshima Prefecture (Perseus meteor shower seen)
September - October Visited Uwajima (Shikoku), Oita (Kyushu), Maizuru, Wajima and Obama along the Sea of Japan
November Joined "Kinko-wan Tall Ship Festa"in Kagoshima Prefecture, Reunion of Akogare's 10-year anniversary with 200 people
2004 January During these 10 years, "Akogare" received 16,353 trainees, sailed some 120,000 n.m. (circumnavigation of the globe of 5.5 times) visiting 23 overseas ports and 61 domestic ports.

2005 March Conducted 14-day Ocean Program to visit Ogasawara Islands
Completed 58 introductory courses and 4 ocean courses, taking 2,320 trainees and covered 6,863 n.m. (12,710km).
Grand total of trainees so far amounts to 18,804 and that of sailing distance 126,776 n.m. (234,788km, almost 6 circumnavigation of the globe)

May Invited children suffered from earthquake damage at Hakata Port in Fukuoka Prefecture

At Yokohama, several courses from day sail to 4 days conducted including the one with Kojiro Shiraishi, a marine adventurer, and the students who refuse to go to school
September Conducted "Sunset Cruise" inviting the citizens of Osaka (September 10)
Courses supported by the Nippon Foundation started in Osaka (4 courses in September and October)
Participated in the National Urban Greenery Fukuoka Fair (September 16-22)
